Emergency Preparedness for Individuals and Families

Sisters and brothers of the Snow Creek Ward –

Through the gospel of Jesus Christ we are taught the importance to stand ready to weather the storms of life. These storms may be spiritual and metaphorical; they may, however, also be temporal and literal. Through our faith, we trust that the Lord will protect and deliver us from both types of storms. While we know that our loving Heavenly Father has a plan for us, He also expects that we do “all we can do” (2 Nephi 25:23) to be ready for those storms that will come our way.

The current snowpack in our mountains is at near-record amounts. As seasons change and temperatures rise and the snow begins to melt, there is potential for flooding in and around our community. In addition to the run-off flooding, we may also see spring storms that release high amounts of rainfall that exceed the capacity of our stormwater infrastructure.

As a demonstration of our faith, we invite you to act now (ahead of the metaphorical and literal storms) to prepare yourself, your family, and your neighbors. Below you will find a simple document that will guide you through a basic emergency plan. This plan will help you in assessing your situation, accounting for your family, and addressing your needs.

Once you have taken care of your situation, we ask that you connect with your neighbors (especially those who might not receive this letter) and encourage them to ready themselves as well. If you become aware of individuals who need particular assistance, please reach out to a minister or member of the Elders Quorum or Relief Society presidencies.

We love you, brothers and sisters, and we pray for you. We are confident that, as we do our part to be ready for the storms of our lives, our Father in Heaven will bless us for our efforts.

Sincerely,
Snow Creek Ward Bishopric
